A. Information You Provide to Us
- Account Information: When you register, we collect your name and email address. You may sign in via Apple Sign-In or email/password.
- Onboarding Preferences: We collect optional information you share during onboarding, such as your gender, madhab, personal blessings, and challenges, to personalize your experience.
- User-Generated Content: Any messages or conversations you have with the DeenPal AI assistant.
- Communications: If you contact us for support, we collect the content of your messages and your contact details.
B. Information Collected Automatically
- Device Data: We collect information about your mobile device, including model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
- Usage Data: We track how you interact with the app to improve stability and performance.
- Location Data (Optional): We may request access to your location to provide accurate prayer times and Qibla direction. You can disable this in your device settings at any time.
C. Information from Third Parties
- If you sign in using Apple Sign-In, we receive your name and email address as permitted by your settings with Apple.
- Subscription Data: We use RevenueCat to process in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat may collect purchase history and device identifiers to manage your subscription status. We do not store your payment details — all payments are processed by the App Store.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Core Functionality: To provide prayer times, AI-powered Islamic guidance, and sync your data across sessions.
- Personalization: To tailor the AI assistant's responses based on your onboarding preferences (madhab, goals).
- AI Disclaimer: DeenPal's AI assistant is an educational tool. Responses are not fatwas and do not constitute religious rulings, legal advice, or medical advice. Always consult a qualified scholar for important matters.
- Analytics & Improvement: To understand usage patterns and fix bugs.
- Communication: To send important updates or support responses.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: We use Supabase (database and authentication), RevenueCat (subscription management), and Expo (app delivery). These providers have access to your data only to perform their services and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your data if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.
4. Data Retention and Security
- Retention: We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide our Services or as required by law. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 5).
- Security: We use industry-standard encryption (SSL/TLS) to protect your data during transmission and storage. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
5. Your Data Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (EEA, UK, California, or other regions), you may have the following rights:
- Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to Erasure: Request permanent deletion of your account and data. You can also do this directly in the app via Settings → Delete Account.
- Right to Restrict Processing: Ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: For location data, withdraw consent at any time via your device settings.

6. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not intended for children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
DeenPal offers weekly, monthly, and yearly subscription plans processed through the Apple App Store. All billing is handled by Apple. For subscription management, cancellation, or refunds, visit your Apple ID subscription settings or go to apple.com/account/subscriptions. Apple's standard EULA applies to all in-app purchases: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.
8. Third-Party Links
Our app may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their policies.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by posting the updated policy and changing the "Last Updated" date. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically.
